Os americanos Machine Head entraram recentemente em estúdio, e começaram as gravações para o seu novo álbum, que deverá sair no final do ano, com o selo da Nuclear Blast Entertainment. Para documentar o processo de produção do mesmo, a banda decidiu publicar uma série de vídeos curtos, dos quais se pode ver o primeiro acima.
Outra novidade, é que a banda lançará no dia 19 de Abril um single em vinil, do qual constará no lado A uma versão demo da faixa “Killers & Kings” (a versão oficial sairá mais tarde no álbum) e no lado B uma cover da faixa “Our Darkest Days”, dos Ignite, umas das bandas favoritas dos membros dos Machine Head.
Robb Flynn, guitarrista, vocalista e líder da banda, falou sobre o novo álbum numa entrevista à revista Metal Hammer britânica: “O álbum soa a Machine Head! Estamos a progredir, o que sinto que acontecerá sempre. Não somos uma banda que olhe pata trás. Fazemos a nossa cena, e tentamos usar as nossas experiências de vida, bem como a musicalidade com que temos vindo a evoluir. (…)
“Já tenho algumas letras bastante boas prontas. Há uma música intitulada “Night Of The Long Knives” que é brutal! É sobre os assassinatos de Charles Manson, e a letra é muito negra e perversa. Encontramos algumas maneiras para dar ao som dos Machine Head novo fulgor e entusiasmo.”
"Com "The Blackening", adorava dizer que tive uma visão grandiosa de
faixas de 9 e 10 minutos, mas as primeiras quatro canções que
escrevemos, foram também as quatro mais curtas do álbum. Durante meses,
não havia qualquer indicação de que isso fosse mudar. Isso veio mais
tarde. Está na natureza humana querer controlar e ditar a forma como as
coisas vão acontecer, mas isso não funciona. Quanto mais forças, mais a
vida te diz "Vai-te lixar", isto vai acontecer de outra maneira!"
